À Propos de Nadia Barbotin

Passionate about creativity in all its forms, I have met artists from all walks of life who have stimulated my current orientation towards painting and sculpture. I belong also to a family, who is art collector and art amateur.

Self-taught until 2014, I have always painted with oil and knives but for 2 years, I am opened up more and more to new techniques and mediums with spalters, shapers, Indian ink, colored inks, acrylic, mixing them to give more strength, transparency to my artworks

From 2014, I took my destiny in hand to realize my deepest desire, painting full-time. In the meantime, I had courses in Contemporary Painting, sculpture and Model Living sketching at the Beaux-Arts in Nantes (France) and at the Ateliers de la Gobinière in Orvault (France). I wanted to experiment with different artistic paths. I make the choice to produce mostly my own canvases and colors (pigments) in a spirit of quality craftsmanship.

Inspired by the impressionists for their lights, movement and bright colors, amazed by abstract expressionists for their vehement and spontaneous emotional language, and by Action painting for physical gesture and energy, I try to translate in my artworks , a mixture of all these movements. Music and singing I have been practicing for more than 20 years, also help me to find inspirations in the rythm of my paintings.

Since then, I use all my skills and knowledges in synergy to paint artworks on canvases and papers that are sources of emotions,  reflection and feelings. The color is always honored, preferably bright, which vibrates under the light. Sometimes, the material invites itself, like a vertical pictural sculpture, giving relief to the supports. The canvas is white and the composition is drawn up according to the mood of the moment. Worked by touches, large flattenings and movements, painting lives, transforms and dialogues finally with its spectator.
